In this video, Prof Etienne Cavaignac and team describe their surgical technique for primary knee arthroplasties. It is a technique based on the principles of “adjusted inversed kinematic alignment” where both mechanical alignment and ligament tension are considered.
The particularity lies in the use of a 5-in-1 guide for the femur. Femoral rotation is determined after making an orthogonal tibial cut and using a tensor. Only uncemented implants are used except for the patella. This is a simple and efficient technique with a customization of the femoral rotation which they use in all cases of primary knee arthroplasty.
