Focus on arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI)
Arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) is a phenomenon affecting recovery after knee trauma or surgery, particularly following an ACL rupture or reconstruction. AMI leads to muscle weakness, gait abnormalities, and an increased risk of early osteoarthritis. This presentation highlights the different grades of AMI, its pathophysiology, contributing and protective factors, as well as potential treatment options to address this condition.
